The report just published by the world's largest property services and investment firm CBRE concludes that at 13.4% increase in house prices in 2017 Camden is leading amongst London Boroughs. This is making more homes further and further beyond the reach of those who work and work to settle in our neighbourhood. The only way to stop this trend is to build more homes and build them for the local people in Camden, those who form vital part of our economy and the vibrant lifestyle we all lead in the capital.
Last year the Government requested that the Councils publish and maintain publicity accessible Registers of Brownfield Sites. Camden published theirs on 31st December 2017. The map https://opendata.camden.gov.uk/Environment/Brownfield-Land-Register-Polygons/wi65-z696 and the list of the sites https://opendata.camden.gov.uk/Environment/Brownfield-Land-Register/dc7i-3xh8/data together they list sites suitable for future development.
In addition, Camden has issued a call to all residents, landowners, business and other interested parties to bring forward further sites they believe could be suitable for development. That should complement the Register of Brownfield Sites and shape the development of Camden in the next 5 years.
The more sites suitable for housing development we can earmark for affordable housing especially, the more affordable housing will get built. That will not only increase the availability of affordable housing in the borough but will also prevent the hike in the market-house prices.
Please help identifying sites and buildings in your area before the closing date of 9th February 2018. Follow the link and fill in the form with as much data as you know www.camden.gov.uk/siteallocations.
