NW3 CLT Meets Camden's Officer to discuss ways of working together

Read here the Agenda from a very successful meeting with Neil Vokes, Camden's Director of development, Supporting Communities:

NW3 CLT meeting with Camden Council
Date: 3/10/2017
Location: Camden Council
Present:                Neil Vokes                              Camden Council
Sanya Polescuk                                    NW3 CLT
Agenda

Why NW3 CLT?
Loss of over 1000 affordable homes in NW3 in the last 5 or so years
Local employers struggle to recruit locally
Property prices rise well above the rate of income, demographics changing, loss of diversity

CLTs working with other London Boroughs
London CLT with Tower Hamlets
Lewisham CLT with Lewisham
All Saints CLT and Peckham CLT with Southwark
Naked House CLT with Enfield
Brixton Green CLT with Lambeth

What do we want?
Reverse the trend of loss of affordable housing in the Borough

How do we think we can do that?
Asking Camden to  dispose of land at less than market value as other Boroughs do (see above)
As a charitable Community Benefit Society we are uniquely placed to raise finance from grants, donations, community shares, investment from Social Impact Funds and Investors

What do we ask of Camden?
Allow preview of forthcoming Register of Brownfield Sites
Allow preview when disposing of sites in NW3 and adjacent postcodes
Talk to other London Councils who have done it (see above)

Why us?
Speed of delivery due to:
A)     Minimal local opposition
B)     Easy access to finance
